About- Barrett's esophagus also called barrett's syndrome is a condition in which tissue that is similar to the lining of the intestine replaces the tissue lining the esophagus (the tube connecting the mouth and stomach).  

Symptoms-
 Frequent heartburn
Difficulty swallowing
Regurgitation (backing up) of stomach acids
Chest pain
 
Causes-
The exact cause of
Barrett's esophagus is not yet known. Several risk factors are
 Overweight and obesity
Suffering from GERD for long period
Smoking
