About- Ascariasis is an infection of the small intestine caused by ringworm called Ascaris lumbricoides.
Symptoms-
Coughing
Wheezing
Shortness of breath
Loss of appetite
Worms in the stool
Nausea and vomiting
Chest pain and discomfort
Fever
Unexplained weight loss
Delayed growth in children
Diarrhoea
Abdominal pain or discomfort
Blood in mucus
Irregular bowel movements
Causes-
Contact with soil mixed with human faeces that contain ascariasis eggs or infected water
Eating or drinking contaminated food or water
Unwashed fruits or vegetables grown in contaminated soil
Small children put their dirty fingers in their mouths
