Achilles Tendon Rupture

About- Achilles tendon rupture (tear) is a medical condition in which the Achilles tendon, the strong fibrous cord that connects the back calf muscles to the heel bone, can tear (rupture) completely or just partially due to overstretching.

Symptoms-
 Sharp pain, and swelling near the heel
Inability to bend the foot downward
Inability to stand on the toes of the injured leg
A snapping sound may be heard as the tendon breaks
Difficulty walking

Causes-
Sports Activities like soccer, basketball, and tennis
Sudden or by force plantarflexion or dorsiflexion of the ankle
Falling from a height
Stepping into a hole
Steroid Injections
Side effects of certain antibiotics
