About- Acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) is a chronic, potentially life-threatening sexually transmitted infection (STI) caused by the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) which damages the cells in the immune system and weakens the ability to fight everyday infections and disease.
