About- Chiari malformation previously called an Arnold-Chiari malformation is a condition in which the lower part of the brain pushes down into the spinal canal.

Symptoms-

Causes-
The exact cause of Chiari malformations is unknown. Risk factors are

 Brain tumor
Hydrocephalus
Exposure to hazardous chemicals, illegal drugs, or alcohol during pregnancy
Genetic mutations
Infection or a high fever during pregnancy
Insufficient nutrients during pregnancy
Myelomeningocele ( a type of spina bifida)
Syringomyelia 
Tethered spinal cord
Traumatic injury, disease, or infection of the spine
