Infantile Spasms (Epileptic Spasms)

About- Infantile spasms also known as Epileptic spasms, juvenile spasms, or West syndrome is a rare form of epilepsy and characterized by short and sometimes subtle seizures that occur in babies.
 
Symptoms-
  • Series of sudden, jerking movements of the legs and arms which may last for a couple of seconds and may occur in cluster
  • Some babies can have up to 60 clusters a day

  • Birth injury
  • Bleeding inside the skull
  • Brain abnormality
  • Brain infection
  • Brain tumor
  • Defective gene
  • Down syndrome 
  • Encephalitis
  • Insufficient oxygen supply to the brain
  • Metabolism disorders
