Hypoparathyroidism

About- Hypoparathyroidism is a condition in which the parathyroid glands in the neck produce abnormally low levels of parathyroid hormone. 

Symptoms-

  • Anxiety
  • Brittle nails
  • Depression
  • Dry and rough skin
  • Muscle pain or cramps
  • Painful menstruation
  • Patchy hair loss
  • Seizure
  • Tingling or burning sensation (paraesthesia) in the fingertips, toes, and lips
  • Twitching facial muscles
Causes-
  • Addison's disease 
  • Autoimmune disease
  • DiGeorge syndrome
  • Family history
  • Injury to the parathyroid glands
  • Low magnesium levels
  • Pernicious anemia
  • Radiation treatments
  • Removal of the parathyroid glands during surgery
