Dr. Dibyendu K Ray is an accomplished consultant neurosurgeon who trained in the best neurosurgical training institutes in India and the USA. After completing his schooling at Don Bosco School, Park Circus, Kolkata, he graduated from R. G. Kar Medical College, Kolkata with a 1st Certificate of Honours in Pharmacology and Community Medicine and a Scholarship in Surgery. He completed his neurosurgical training in India from PGIMER, Chandigarh. He was then offered a fellowship position to train with the legendary Prof. Ladislau Steiner at the Department of Neurosurgery of the University of Virginia, USA, from where he has conferred the Lars Leksell Fellowship in Radiosurgery. His stint at the University of Virginia brought him in contact with neurosurgical stalwarts like Prof. John Jane (Sr.), Prof Neal F Kassel, and Prof. Christopher Shaffrey. Thereafter he moved to Portland, Oregon, where he trained in Stereotactic and Functional Neurosurgery under the renowned neurosurgical teacher and researcher Prof. Kim J Burchiel at the Oregon Health & Science University, USA. He trained further in complex spine surgery at the University of Illinois, College of Medicine at Peoria, before returning to his native Kolkata. Given his love for academics, he accepted an appointment as Assistant Professor of Neurosurgery at the Bangur Institute of Neurosciences, on his return to Kolkata.
