Dr. Amit Ghose selected medicine as a career after enjoyable schooling in St. Xaviers Collegiate School. He graduated and post graduated from Calcutta Medical College. Subsequently, he proceeded to the United Kingdom and trained between 1987 and 1996. He returned to Calcutta where he has set up a comprehensive urological service in the private sector. After his return from the UK, he has been associated with various institutions including Wockhardt Hospital and Kidney Institute, Woodlands Hospital, Kothari Medical Center, and Anandalok Hospital. Currently, he is dedicated to his service to Apollo Gleneagles Hospitals, Kolkata. The early part of the career journey witnessed Dr. Amit Ghose developing the general Urological service for the community of West Bengal mainly on the platform of Wockhardt Hospital. Then he set up his own private practice by establishing The Oxford Stone Clinic. This enabled him to make healthcare affordable for all strata of society.
