What is addiction?

In a very simple way, when a person continuously uses mood-altering substances or does activities and can’t think about life without it called an addiction. Addiction is a never-ending list but some of the very common addictions are alcohol consumption, smoking, mobile and gaming addiction, excessive sexual addiction, addiction of gambling, TV watching addiction, drug addiction, Gutkha Tambaku addiction, etc.

Habits & Bad Habits or Addictions are not so different from each other. If Ram smokes cigarettes to increase productivity during night shifts then it is a lifestyle boost to him and a habit that helps him be more productive to the company to it is good for him, and also his favourite star Shahrukh Khan is a chain smoker. So, it is like a status symbol to him. But to Ram’s mother smoking is injurious to her health and can cause cancer, so, it is an addiction to her.

So, Habits!

Habits can make you or your habits can break you! If a habit is breaking your physical and mental health slowly and in the long run disturbing or destroying your social, financial, and other important aspects of life then you must try to shake it off.

How to get rid of your addictions?

Take Baby Steps: Slowly by altering patterns try to get rid of your addictions. If you drink 360 ml alcoholic drink every day then slowly keep minimizing the quantity

Try harder to keep all temptations far from you that Help Your Addiction or Bad Habits to trigger:  Like you drink every evening with a particular friend. Then your job is to do something else you like and ask that friend to come every alternate day and keep minimizing that.

Change & Replace Your Old Habits:  You can pick a new type of habit or addiction and replace the old one slowly. Like instead of playing computer games for a long time you can watch an action movie.

Love yourself: no no not that kind of “Love Yourself”, that is also an addiction. It is like if you don’t want to die young stop doing drugs slowly.

These steps are not that easy for everyone, these methods are common and can be found everywhere on the Internet. These things depend on the type of addiction, a person’s present mental and health conditions and there are many other factors to think about.
