Usually, each haemodialysis treatment lasts about four hours and is done three times per week. But it can be that it is started twice per week initially if residual renal function is good.
Newer machines have haemodiafiltration which helps in removing middle molecules. Various types of dialyzers are available depending on size and flux of membrane. You can speak to your doctor to see if this is an appropriate treatment for you.
