About- Otosclerosis or otospongiosis is an abnormal growth of bone near the middle ear causing hearing loss due to the ear's inability to amplify sound.

Causes-
The exact reason is unknown. Genetic factors may play a role in developing this disease and viral infection (like measles) can act as a trigger.
