About- Cleft lip and cleft palates are gaps or splits in the upper lip, the roof of the mouth (palate) or both.
 
Symptoms-
 A Build-up of fluid in their ears (glue ear)
 Chronic ear infections
 Difficulty feedings
 Difficulty swallowing
 Hearing problems
 A problem in tooth development
 Tooth decay (Cavities)
 Unclear or nasal-sounding speech

Causes-
It is a birth defect. It may occur because of both genetic and environmental factors.

 Consumption of illegal drugs during pregnancy
