Dr. Ashish Markan is a Vitreo-retina and Uvea Specialist. He completed his post-graduate training in Ophthalmology at the prestigious AIIMS, New Delhi. Following his post-graduation, he worked as a Senior Resident in AIIMS, New Delhi, and trained in Retina, Uvea, and ROP services. He continued his training in Vitreo-retina and Uvea services at the prestigious PGIMER, Chandigarh where he was awarded the super specialization degree of MCh (Vitreo-retina), becoming one of the few, handful MCh qualified Vitreo-Retina specialists in the country. Dr. Markan has worked as Assistant Professor (Tele-ophthalmology) at PGIMER Chandigarh following his residency. He has several scientific publications to his name in world-renowned journals with impressive impact factors and has presented his work at various national and international conferences around the world including the USA, Australia, Italy, Germany, and the Netherlands. Dr. Markan is also the recipient of several degrees from national boards, DNB and FAICO (Vitreo-retina) as well as international councils such as the International Council of Ophthalmology (FICO) and the prestigious Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS Glasgow). He is proficient in all sorts of complex retinal surgeries such as retinal detachment, giant retinal tears, diabetic vitrectomies including diabetic tractional detachments, scleral buckling, vitreous hemorrhage, intraocular foreign bodies, posterior lens drop, endophthalmitis, intraocular cysticercosis, complications secondary to vasculitis, complex macular surgeries such as macular holes, Epiretinal membranes, and retinal autografts, to name a few. Apart from retinal surgeries, he is also proficient in cataract surgeries (Phacoemulsification, ECCE, and ICCE), and scleral fixated IOLs. With an experience of numerous years in the field of ophthalmology, Dr. Markan’s mission is to provide world-class retina and uvea services to his patients through the remarkable skills he has acquired at the apex ophthalmology institutions of the country.
