About- Trachoma is a bacterial infection that affects eyes caused by bacterium Chlamydia trachomatis
 
Symptoms-
 Itching and irritation of the eyes and eyelids
 Discharge from the eyes containing mucus or pus
 Eyelid swelling
 Light sensitivity (photophobia)
 Eye pain
 Blurred vision
 
Causes-

Trachoma is caused by certain subtypes of Chlamydia trachomatis. The common transmission routes are in contact with discharge from the eyes or nose, hands, clothing, towels of an infected person, besides that insects, eye-seeking flies etc. can play a role.
