About- An umbilical hernia occurs when part of the intestine protrudes through the umbilical opening in the abdominal muscles.

Symptoms-
 Soft swelling or bulge usually painless near the navel (umbilicus)
 Bulge may be noticed when a baby cries, coughs or strains but may disappear other time
 Abdominal discomfort during adulthood
 
Causes-
 Weak abdominal wall
 High abdominal pressure
 Multiple pregnancies
 Multiple gestation pregnancies (having twins, triplets, etc.)
 Ascites
 Chronic peritoneal dialysis
 Overweight
 Abdominal surgery
 A chronic cough
