Toxic Shock Syndrome

About- Toxic shock syndrome is a rare, life-threatening complication of certain types of bacterial infections.
 
Symptoms-
 Sudden high fever
 Low blood pressure (hypotension)
 Nausea and Vomiting
 Diarrhea
 Skin rash particularly on the palms and soles
 Confusion
 Muscle aches
 Redness of eyes, mouth, and throat
 Seizures
 Headaches

Causes-
Toxic shock syndrome is caused by most commonly, Staphylococcus aureus (staph) bacteria and by group A streptococcus (strep) bacteria. This syndrome has been associated with:
 Cuts or burns on the skin
 Recent surgery
  Using contraceptive sponges, diaphragms or superabsorbent tampons
 Viral infection, such as the flu or chickenpox
