Stevens Johnson Syndrome

About- Stevens-Johnson syndrome also called SJSerythema multiforme major is a rare, serious disorder of the skin and mucous membranes, usually occurs due to a reaction to certain medication or infection.

Symptoms-
 Fever
 A red or purple skin rash
 Blisters on the skin, mucous membranes of the mouth, nose, eyes, and genitals
 Skin pain

Causes-
The exact cause is not known, but several risk factors of developing 
Stevens-Johnson syndrome include
 The side effect of certain medication including anti-gout medications, Anticonvulsants, and antipsychotics  
 Radiation therapy
 Pain relievers, such as acetaminophen, ibuprofen. and naproxen sodium etc.
 Medications to fight infection, such as penicillin
 Herpes virus (herpes simplex or herpes zoster)
 Pneumonia
 HIV/AIDS
 Hepatitis A
 A weakened immune system
 A personal or family history of Stevens-Johnson syndrome
 The HLA-B*1502 gene
