Lipoma

About- A lipoma is a fatty lump or growth of fatty tissue mostly situated between the skin and the underlying muscle layer. 
 
Symptoms-
  • Move easily if prodded with the finger
  • Normally small (typically less than 2 inches  ) and colorless
  • Painful sometimes
  • Situated just under the skin mostly on the neck, shoulders, forearms. arms. and thighs
  • Soft to touch
 
Causes-
The exact cause of lipomas is not fully understood. Genetic factors may play a role in developing this disease.

  • Adiposis dolorosa 
  • Bannayan-Riley-Ruvalcaba syndrome
  • Cowden syndrome
  • Gardner’s syndrome 
  • Madelung’s disease
